According to a AAA report published in November 2011, Atlanta, Georgia, because of its high congestion, ranks near the top of list for car accidents and fatalities in the United States. Atlanta is 4th in car accidents and 6th in traffic fatalities.
In 2009, the year the AAA report is based upon, more than 62,000 people were injured and 498 killed on Atlanta’s roads. These numbers are trending up and are consistent with the progressive increase in congestion in the metro area.
