Three fatal accidents were reported across the state as the recent Memorial Day holiday weekend got underway. Holiday traffic accounting began Friday at 6 p.m. and continued through midnight Sunday.
Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Robert Clark, age 50, of Mableton, was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle on curved Dodgen Road in Cobb County. Sgt. Dana Pierce investigated. Clark died shortly after arriving at Wellstar Cobb Hospital.
Pierce told the Atlanta Journal Constitution: “Investigators believe that alcohol was a contributing factor in this fatality crash in addition to the rider not wearing any type of protective headgear.”
The Georgia State Patrol reports that the other two fatalities that happened in Lafayette in the northwest corner of the state, and in Putnam County southeast of metro Atlanta.
Statistics show that automobile accidents are more likely when traffic is heavy, such as holiday weekends. All drivers should be especially careful about sharing the roads with motorcycles.
